Xiaoyong Zhang was born in Jiangxi, China. He received his B.S. (2004) in Preventive medicine from Wuhan University of Science and Technology. He received his Ph.D. (2011) in Inorganic Chemistry from Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics (SINAP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) with Professor Wenxin Li and Qing Huang.
