Professor Guang Yang and Mr. Zhijun Shi attended the ICAFPM2009
The International Conference on Advanced Fibers and Polymer Materials (ICAFPM 2009), organized by the Key Laboratory of Fiber Materials Modification at Dong Hua University, Department of Chemistry at SUNY Stone Brook University and College of Polymer Science & Polymer Engineering at the University of Akron, was held in the beautiful Songjiang Campus at Donghua University in Shanghai. Over 100 experts and scholars in the fibers and polymer materials from more than 10 countries, including China, Germany, USA, Britain, Japan, Korea, Signapore, India, etc. were present at the conference.

In two days, 76 presentations were given by the experts and scholars and more than 200 posters were on display in 9 Plenary Lectures of 5 venues. Owing to the conference ,Over 350 experts, scholars and graduate students had the chance to get together communicating and discussing the development trends of Advanced Fibers and Polymer Materials. More than 20 overseas experts, including Prof. Stephen D. Chen from College of Polymer Science & Polymer Engineering at the University of Akron, who is the member of National Academy of Engineering of the U.S.A.; Prof. Chris Rudd, vice President of the University of Nottingham and Prof. Hans- Juergen D.Adler from Dresden University of Technology had all attended the meeting.
Professor Guang Yang from Huazhong University of Sci & Tech was invited to the meeting, and gave her Invitation Lecture of Preparation of high performance biobased composites from poly(lactic acid) and microcrystalline cellulose. Besides , PhD. candidate Zhijun Shi gave his oral presentation of In situ Nano-assembly of Bacterial cellulose/ Polyaniline during the meeting.

During her visit to Shanghai, Prof. Yang was also invited by the School of Chemical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the company of Univlever to give the lecture of Controllable Bio-fabrication based on Microbes -- From Microbes to Materials and the lecture of Fabrication of 3-D Cellulose Materials: 1. Top-down from Novel Solvent System 2.Buttom-up by Biosynthesis respectively.
